About
Trees are houses. Much like our own homes, trees must integrate and interact with their environment appropriately.
Treehouse Arboriculture incorporates best practice arboricultural, horticultural, and landscape design principles to ensure appropriate integration and interaction in the built environment.
Treehouse Arboriculture is directed by Michael Sullings, a highly experienced and qualified AQF Level 5 Consultant Arborist, who has a deep appreciation for all living things and the ecological interactions between them.
Treehouse Arboriculture services the Coffs Coast and surrounds.
Treehouse Arboriculture acknowledges the Gumbaynggirr people, the traditional custodians of the land upon which we operate, and pays respect to their Elders, past and present.
Goals
Treehouse Arboriculture aims to improve understanding of the risks relating to trees, and the ecological processes involved in their successful management.
Treehouse Arboriculture is committed to enhancing the ecological amenity of the Coffs Coast, and pledges to plant a locally-indigenous tree for every job completed.
Experience
Michael Sullings has worked in the arboricultural, horticultural, and landscaping trades for 25 years, with experience in nurseries, retail, garden maintenance, landscape construction, tree management, consultation, and local government.
Michael has extensive experience in the management of privately- and publicly-owned trees, including the identification of tree hazards, and the mitigation of tree risks. Michael understands the statutory and legislative requirements around tree management, and produces high quality advice and reporting to make the process as simple and stress-free as possible for his clients.
Michael has specialised experience in ‘habitat creation’ or ‘environmental arboriculture’, which involves the retention and enhancement of arboreal habitat features for the benefit of local wildlife and the tree populations they are co-dependent upon. Michael has created more than 150 ‘habitat stags’, installed more than 450 ‘artificial hollows’, and has given numerous presentations and demonstrations on the topic for organisations including the International Society of Arboriculture, Arboriculture Australia, Local Land Services, and TAFE.
